Ah, the wonderful world of Pinterest!

I first stumbled upon Pinterest when I was looking for ideas for my wedding. My boards grew from weddings to recipes to exercise to funny pictures and inspirational quotes and to teaching ideas. Boards about various different teaching subjects have probably become my most numerous boards - I have everything from classroom organization to September/Back to School to grade and subject specific boards.  Whenever I get a new teaching assignment, the first thing I do is look on Pinterest for ideas.  I wont say that my days of Googling for ideas and lesson plans are gone but the multi-tasker in me loves that I can be looking for teaching ideas and find recipes at the same time!

In a few short weeks I will be wading into what will be uncharted territory for me...a brand new school with kids I've never met, in a grade I haven't taught very much. Naturally, Pinterest is where I've been spending a lot of time looking for everything and anything Grade 7.  And, as I was copying down some of the great things I've pinned into my Teacher Idea Book, it struck me. Why not feature a Pin or an idea from my Pinterest boards each blog post? So that's my plan!

The focus for my posts here will be things I've pinned on Pinterest.  They may be things that I'm planning on trying out, resources I like, or a review of things I have tried. Some posts may be a quote or a funny that I'd like to share.

Sounds like a great reason to spend more time on Pinterest to me!
Here goes nothing!

Welcome!

Wow! So in the vast internet-verse, you managed to stumble across my blog!  Hopefully here you'll find some interesting tidbits.

I'm currently a Grade 7 teacher but I've taught Grade 6, Grade 4 and substituted in every grade in between.  Being a temporary staff member means I'm not guaranteed a job every September to I get shuffled around quite a bit and while it makes it hard to find my niche, it gives me lots of experience in a whole bunch of different classrooms and grade. I'm hoping this will be a great platform for me to reflect on my classroom experiences, share some of what I'm learning and hopefully learn a thing or two from you, too!

Why iTeach, iLearn, iPlay? I chose this name for my blog because those three things, teaching, learning, and playing, are quintessential in just about every part of life but especially so in the classroom.  I believe that I am not only there to be a teacher but I am also there to learn.  Children are not only there to learn, they are there to be teachers to each other and to us and to learn and teach through play.

Stay tuned for what I hope will be some great posts!
